Historic Culver Walking Tour
Created by Dr. Julia J. Hollowell, this online walking tour of historic Culver provides insight into the rich history of our small town. This was made possible through a grant to the Culver Historical Society and is made available through ArcGIS technology from the Environmental Systems Research Institute. This tour combines a series of slides comprised of text and photos with number corresponding to the locations of historical sites throughout the town of Culver. The website does not track your location, so you are able to embark on the tour from your living room or outside in a hammock. The ideal practice is that you will follow the trail and walk around Culver. The route is about a mile and a quarter long, beginning and ending at the lighthouse in the town park.
A message from Dr. Hollowell:
“These historic walking tours focus on historic sites and architecture along the three routes that include Culver’s National Historical Register Districts and the campus of Culver Academies. There are certainly other historically interesting structures and parts of town not covered her, which we hope might become future routes.”
